Andrew Smith Hallidie diary : ms, 1852 Jan.-May.

Diary of Hallidie's voyage with his father from Liverpool to San Francisco via New York and Panama aboard the ships Pacific, Brother Jonathan, and Brutus. Discusses everyday life aboard as well as engineering aspects of the ships, including propulsion equipment and functional problems during a storm. Also describes distances travelled, flora and fauna encountered, and ports of call, including Acapulco, Bermuda, Cuba, and Kingston, Jamaica.
